If you want a flatter stomach you’re going to have to focus on good food and exercise. There’s really no other way to do it unless you get expensive, and potentially dangerous surgery. Exercise will provide you with strong and toned abdominal muscles which not only look great but help you burn more fat overall.
Exercise is very important but just as important is your diet. What’s most important about your diet when you want to flatten your stomach is that you completely cut out junk food. This is non-negotiable. You want a tight tummy you can’t have donuts (I know, it makes me sad too).
That means no more candy, pastry, fast food, frozen pizzas, cookies, cakes, ice cream, etc. This type of food is not only void of nutritional value but it will also make it hard or impossible for you to get the flat stomach you want.
Foods For A Flat Stomach
What foods burn belly fat? There are certain foods that are going to work better than others. Some foods after eaten, will even work to eliminate belly fat! There are foods that contain monounsaturated fats such as Avocado, dark chocolate, olive oil, almonds, etc. that will help you slim down faster by targeting the fat around your belly (foods high in monounsaturated fats will boost your metabolic rate which enables your body to burn higher amounts of calories and unwanted fat).
Here is a list of foods containing monounsaturated fats that you can eat to slim down your stomach:
*One Note about foods with monounsaturated fats: Some are high in calories so don’t overdo it. Try adding a little bit to each meal or at least every other meal. Moderation is key.
Here’s a list of flat belly veggies:
It’s very important that you eat lots of fruit if you want to not only be healthy and disease free, but also have that slim and tight stomach you’ve always wanted. Flat tummy foods that are high in fiber like apples and foods that are high in B-vitamins like Grapefruit are very important. Also, most melons (watermelon, honeydew melon, etc.) are excellent choices because they are loaded with vitamins and with water which helps eliminate toxins and excess salt from your body.
You want to drink lots of green tea and water when you’re trying to lose weight. You want to drink water because it will flush out your system and keep you hydrated (which helps you sleep and keeps you feeling energized) and green tea because it contains loads of antioxidants and it has been proven to boost your metabolism by as much as 5%.
Cutting down the fat around your belly will be much easier if you get rid of all the sugary and fattening foods and replace them with fruits and vegetables. Look for fresh and organic vegetables like broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, spinach, chard, kale, carrots, onions, garlic, etc. Vegetables like these are high in specific types of enzymes that will help your body process food and also help raise your metabolism.
Also, try and avoid using too much oil when you cook your vegetables. Some oils are really good for you and may even help you lose weight (olive oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, etc.) but they contain high amounts of calories so you’re better off steaming, boiling, or grilling your vegetables instead of frying or sauteing them.
Although you should try and avoid fatty meats there are lean meats (and fish) that you should be eating so that you get the protein your body needs to build and tone your muscles. Without protein your muscles don’t get the amino acids that are essential fuels. It’s important which meats you eat, however. Certain cheeses and red meat have lots of protein but they are also high in calories and high in fat. These you want to avoid.
Here’s a good list of lean meats that you can include in your diet that will help you slim down your belly and show off your abs:
6.Redfish (Ocean Perch)
Be careful when shopping and don’t purchase meat simply because it says “lean” on the package. The USDA considers lean meat to be meat that has 10 grams of total fat. That’s over 90 calories of fat with half of those calories coming from saturated fats. Even the USDA’s meat labeled “extra-lean” beef still has 5 grams of fat per serving. So be careful because not all meats labeled “lean” are actually low enough in fat and calories to help you lose weight.
