What Is The Belly Fat Cure?

what is the belly fat cureThe Belly Fat Cure is a new diet plan created by “celebrity” fitness trainer Jorge Cruise. The diet claims that you can eat pretty much all the foods that you love, including cheeseburgers, pizza, and ice cream, just as long as you’re careful about the intake of certain carbohydrates (processed) and sugar.   The diet claims that you can do this because of a sophisticated “carb swap” system that helps control your insulin levels and thus controls your weight loss.

This is in direct contradiction to Jorge’s last book in which controling your calories and your portions was the main focus. Jorge says that his last book was wrong and that if you want to lose weight that it has nothing to do with counting calories, eating healthier, eating less, or practicing more exercise.

The problem with The Belly Fat Cure diet program is that almost ALL other nutritionists and weight loss experts say that this is NOT the way to lose weight.  In fact some experts have called the diet “junk”, and even dangerous.

The problem is that this diet allows for too much consumption of meats, fats, and sodium.  It’s probably one of the least heart-healthy diets you can engage in.  Meats, fats, and sodium are the leading causes of heart disease and heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.

The Belly Fat Cure program also recommends that you limit certain fruits and low-fat dairy.  This also goes against what the majority of weight loss and health experts say.  These foods are essential in your diet because they provide essential nutrients including fiber, vitamin D, and calcium that your body needs to survive.

Plus, the role that insulin plays in the body is not as simple as Jorge claims it is in his book says David Katz, a Yale University researcher.

Other experts claim that with this diet losing 4-9 pounds per week (a claim made by Jorge) is unrealistic and that most likely you may experience a one time loss of a few pounds but NOT a weekly loss.

The Belly Fat Cure Bottom Line:

You know the old saying, “If it’s too good to be true, It IS.”

The ideas that the diet holds of becoming more aware of sugar and eating less processed foods is good.  That’s one of the best aspects of the diet.  Also, Jorge encourages dieters to read labels to find out what’s in your foods which is an excellent way of becoming accustomed to eating better.

The problem is that any diet that tells you it’s okay to eat bacon and hamburgers while it also tells you to cut out fruits, low-fat dairy, paying attention to calories, and exercise, is NOT a diet that you should be getting into.

This diet will be almost impossible to sustain long-term and it could also lead to nutritional problems.

What You Can Eat On The Belly Fat Cure Diet

This diet plan consists of small amounts of complex carbohydrates, sugars, vegetables, fats, and proteins.   You can also have alcohol (Wine, Champagne, Beer) and dark chocolate.

You can’t have sweeteners (real or artificial), processed foods, cocktails, and candy bars.

Most of the book is made of up meals that Jorge calls “belly bad” meals.  There are about one-hundred of these meals.  Then Jorge takes these “belly bad” meals that are mostly foods from restaurants and converts them into “belly good” meals.  The problem with these “belly good” meals is that the only nutritional information given are the carbs and the sugars.  Nothing else.   I’m not sure how you would monitor your nutritional intake with this diet.

You can choose from 5 different meal plans that cover an entire week.  The different meal plans are made to fit different eating styles  (carb lovers, meat eaters, etc.).

The book recommends that you drink eight to ten glasses of purified water per day.  You’re not allowed to eat most fruits (or juices) or skim milk.
