How To Get Rid Of Your Double Chin
One of the most frequent emails I receive from subscribers to my newsletter or visitors to my site is “how do I get rid of a double chin?”. What I always say is that there are a few true ways to do it and it all starts with your diet.
Losing weight on any part of your body really only comes down to one thing – losing/burning more calories than you consume on a daily basis. The weight loss industry muddles it up a lot but that’s basically what you have to do to cut fat on your body. But don’t fret because you don’t have to starve yourself. What you should do is simply lose 300-500 calories a day from your current diet. If you do that then you will lose about a pound of fat per week. If you lose just ten to 20 pounds then it will drastically reduce your chin fat.
Here’s something you should know: You can’t “target” fat. This means you can’t just go after chin fat, belly fat, leg fat, etc. You’re body doesn’t work like that. You have to target all the fat on your body in order to lose fat in specific areas. Now, you can lose double chin fast with just diet but if you really want to speed up the process you’ll need to do some exercise. Most health care professionals recommend that you do about 30-45 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 5 to 6 days a week. This can include walking, jogging, swimming, bicycling, lawn mowing, aerobics, etc. Find something you like and exercise won’t seem like a chore. I personally like to play basketball with my son. It’s fun and I get a heck of a workout.
Also, if you can, try to do some resistance training. You can use dumbbells, resistance bands, or whatever you want to use. If you can join a gym then you should. Weight training will build and tone your muscles and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn (even while you watch television!) and the faster you’ll be able to completely get rid of that fat under your chin.

Your Posture Plays A Role In Double Chin Fat
This may sound crazy but your posture can have a negative effect on your chin. If you slouch it can cause extra skin, fluid, and fat to accumulate in the area underneath your chin. While you sit or stand try sitting up straight with your chin slightly forward. This is not only good for your chin but it’s also good for your back and your neck.
You Can Try Plastic Surgery
There are no “magic bullets” for getting rid of a double chin. However, plastic surgery may be the closest thing to is. You can have surgery that will lift your neck, your lower face and liposuction the fat underneath your chin. These operations typically involve the removal of excess skin, taking muscles that sag and tightening them, and sucking out fat with a medical vacuum. This type of option does come with some severe risks (including a hefty price tag of anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000) such as scarring, paralysis, and even death. This is not an option to take lightly and you should talk with your family doctor at length about this before you decide.
