Losing weight on any part of your body really only comes down to one thing – losing/burning more calories than you consume on a daily basis.  The weight loss industry muddles it up a lot but that’s basically what you have to do to cut fat on your body.  But don’t fret because you don’t have to starve yourself.  What you should do is simply lose 300-500 calories a day from your current diet.  If you do that then you will lose about a pound of fat per week.  If you lose just ten to 20 pounds then it will drastically reduce your chin fat.



Here’s something you should know:  You can’t “target” fat.  This means you can’t just go after chin fat, belly fat, leg fat, etc.  You’re body doesn’t work like that.  You have to target all the fat on your body in order to lose fat in specific areas.   Now, you can lose double chin fast with just diet but if you really want to speed up the process you’ll need to do some exercise.  Most health care professionals recommend that you do about 30-45 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 5 to 6 days a week.  This can include walking, jogging, swimming, bicycling, lawn mowing, aerobics, etc.   Find something you like and exercise won’t seem like a chore.  I personally like to play basketball with my son.  It’s fun and I get a heck of a workout.

This may sound crazy but your posture can have a negative effect on your chin.  If you slouch it can cause extra skin, fluid, and fat to accumulate in the area underneath your chin.  While you sit or stand try sitting up straight with your chin slightly forward.  This is not only good for your chin but it’s also good for your back and your neck.

Learning how to get rid of a double chin without surgery is not difficult. It just depends on what your definition of “fast” is. It’s not something that you can do over night (unless you have cosmetic surgery – which I don’t recommend because of the inherent dangers involved).

Also, you can’t simply “target” one area of fat. You have to engage in an overall weight loss plan to slim down all the areas of your body.

There are some exercises listed below that you can do that will help slim down your chin but in order to completely get rid of your double chin you’ll need to focus on improving your overall diet and exercise routine.

I get a lot of emails asking me, “how do I get rid of my double chin?”  My answer always starts with how to regulate diet.  It plays a very important part in regulating fat all over your body.

This is something you’re probably very familiar with if you’ve ever been on a diet. It’s the restriction of calories. Now I’m not talking about keeping your calories under 1000 per day or anything crazy like that. Starving yourself will only make you GAIN weight, not lose it. You can, however, eat healthy and avoid processed sugars and fats. This will help you to naturally limit your consumption of calories. Think of it this way: If you have a glass of unsweetened iced tea (natural with NO added real or artificial sweeteners) instead of a soda you could cut out as much as 100-120 calories. Two glasses of iced tea instead of 2 sodas could cut 200-240 calories per day.

Here are some more substitutions you can make:

  • Carrots and hummus instead of chips and dip
  • Frozen, seedless grapes instead of candy

  • Hummus and a warm, whole-grain pita instead of a slice of pizza

How To Reduce Chin Fat With Cardiovascular Exercising

If you’re going to reduce ANY fat from your body (especially from the stubborn neck area) you’re going to need to burn off more calories than you consume. Experts recommend 30 to 45 minutes of vigorous to somewhat vigorous cardiovascular exercises per day (this can include the chin exercises for double chin listed below). This can be at the gym or at home. The important thing is to find something you like to do. If you like to do it then it will be easier to manage and easier to accomplish each day. If you can’t do it each day because of lack of time or health issues then try to do it at least 3 times per week.

Add weight training into your exercise regime. You don’t have to workout like Arnold Schwarzenegger to achieve the right results. You can use 5 to 10 pound dumbbells and workout in your basement if it suits you better. You can also try yoga or pilates to achieve similar results.

This is not as well-known as some of the other methods already mentioned but if you practice good posture you can help eliminate a double chin. Sit up straight with you jaw jutted slightly forward during your day and it will help deal with your unwanted chin fat. You want to avoid giving too much slack to your jaw muscles as this can allow for fat to accumulate and skin to loosen in that area. Look for ergonomic chairs online as these can help with your posture.

Exercise Your Jaw Muscles With Some Gum Chewing

Get some sugar free gum to chew. This is a good workout for your jaw and facial muscles. These muscles are responsible for keeping your chin and jawline area firm and toned so it’s crucial that you “work out” this area.

Exercises For Double Chin:

1.First you need to open your mouth as wide as possible and then hold it for 10-15 seconds. You can provide some resistance by placing a tennis or other rubber type ball under your chin. Do 5 reps and then move on to the next exercise.

2.This is one of the better exercises for you to learn how to lose neck and chin fat. Put your right hand flat against your forehead. Now push against your hand with your head. Keep your hand in the same place so you feel the tension in you neck. Push for 5 seconds and then relax for 5 seconds. Do 5 reps and move to the next exercise.

3.Point your chin up towards the ceiling until you feel a bit of tension in your neck. Then pucker your lips like you’re about the give the sky a big kiss. Push your lips out as far as you can and hold for 10 seconds. Do 3 reps and then move on.

4.While you are sitting upright, lean your head back as far as you possibly can. Hold this for 10 seconds. Do 3 reps and then move on to the next exercise.

5.Open your mouth wide and pull your lower lip up over your lower teeth. Now raise and lower your jaw like you’re trying to scoop up some ice cream (don’t actually eat ice cream as this would nullify the effects of the workout!). This may feel a bit strange and you will probably feel a bit strange while doing it but it works.
