How To Be Skinny Like A Model

how to be skinny like a model

The models of today are skinnier than they ever have been before.  It’s true that in some circles thin is “in” but getting the body of a runway model takes a lot of know how and a decent bit of sacrifice on the part of your diet. However, learning how to be skinny like a model is not impossible and if you follow the advice bellow you should be able to reach your goals.

Your Diet

Learning how to be model thin takes a lot of dedication.  In fact, if you don’t have the commitment to really pull it off then you may find yourself “falling off the wagon” and not reaching your goals.

how to be skinny like a model diet

The first thing you need to focus on is your diet.  You’re going to need to eat a LOT less.  Most of the models you see in magazines or on the runway eat very little.  Their diets are very, very calorie restricted.  The average model only eats about 1,200 calories per day and it doesn’t really matter what his or her height is.   One way to get 1,200 calories a day without having to menu plan, shop, or cook is to try out the Nutrisystem diet.  With Nutrisystem you get your meals delivered to your home and they are created around a 1,200 calorie per day system.  It’s not cheap, but it is much easier than doing everything yourself.

You can also eat foods that HELP burn calories.  You can add spices, green tea, more protein, and coffee to your diet to help boost your metabolism.  Learn more about foods that can help you burn calories here.

With your diet you have to completely give up any sugar and fat.  This includes cakes, cookies, candy, pies, sodas (even diet drinks), fast-foods, processed foods, etc.  You’ll also need to be very choosy when it comes to picking out the types of meat you eat.  Forget about steaks, hamburgers, meatloaf, etc.  You’re going to have to severely limit meat and when you do eat it you should only eat lean meats and fish (chicken, Tilapia, tuna, salmon, turkey, etc.).

When learning how to get model thin you also have to know that you’ll need to sacrifice refined carbohydrates.  Refined carbohydrates that you shouldn’t eat are things like bread or rice.

To know how to get model thin takes time and practice.  But it can be accomplished.  So let’s stop talking about what you CAN’T eat and start talking about what you CAN eat.

You should try to eat a lot of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.   Also, try to eat a lot of fiber.  Fiber is in a lot of fruit that you eat but if you can add more (like a fiber supplement) then you should.  Fiber not only helps your digestion but it takes the body longer to digest so you stay fuller longer.

Here’s a list of low-calorie foods that FILL YOU UP!

Drink LOTS of water and green tea.  Sometimes you can be thirsty and it feels like your hungry.  So always try to stay hydrated.  Being properly hydrated will also make you feel more energetic, help you think more clearly, make you feel fuller longer, and will even help you sleep.  A neat trick to know when you want to learn how to become model thin is to drink green tea.  Drinking green tea supplies your body with lots of antioxidants which help repair cells and fight off disease.  It also increases your metabolism (as well as gives you a little pep from the caffeine).

Your Exercise

You will need to do at MINIMUM, 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise daily (here’s a list of exercises that are fun and burn lots of calories).  To lose weight faster and to get thinner you should shoot for around 60 minutes per day.  The average model works out frequently so the more you do the more you’ll have that type of body.  It’s imperative to do exercises every day to lose weight but also since you are restricting your body to only 1,200 calories a day it will want to slow down your metabolism.  Exercise will force your body to keep your metabolism running high and your body mass index low.

How To Workout Like A Model

If you are really serious in wanting to know how to be model skinny then you should consider hiring professionals.  This includes personal trainers and nutritionists.  Many professional models have personal trainers and nutritionists to develop workout routines and menus that are tailored specifically for them.  This can be a bit costly but to cut down on the price you may be able to hire them for a one time meeting where they can lay it all out for you.

I weight 120lbs and I want to be a skinny model so what should I do

    • Sara says:

Well, 120 pounds is very good. You should be more concerned with your health than losing more weight. Plus, not all models are sickly looking toothpicks. There are a lot of models that actually weight a lot more than 120 pounds. To lose weight you simply need to eat a healthy diet and burn off more calories than you consume. I recommend a mediteranean type diet and daily cardio (walking, running, swimming, etc.)

My Weight Is , 160. I Need Some Tips On What Kind Of Exercises I Should Be Doing To Get To An Average Weight Of A Model Can You Help Me?

    • Sara says:

      Hello Danielle,

It depends on several factors. One being your height. If you’re 6’0 then 135 – 140 pounds would suffice. If you’re 5’4 then 110-120 pounds would suffice. To lose the maximum amount of weight possible you need to change more than your exercises. You should cut back on processed foods (completely if you want to lose a lot of weight) or foods high in fat and sugar. ONLY eat lean meats, veggies, fruits, whole grains, etc. Find some delicious recipes. You can make food that tastes BETTER than food you get at a restaurant if you learn how to cook it.

As far as exercise goes, if you are not used to exercising then start out slow. Try walking or riding a bike. Swimming also burns a lot of calories. Then, if your body allows, try running. Personally, there’s nothing I like more than taking a nice long walk in the morning. I fire up my ipod and walk for an hour, sometimes two. You’d be surprised how many calories you can burn if you walk at a brisk pace for an hour. Just make sure you start out slow if you’re not used to exercise. And as always, talk to your doctor before starting any exercise routine.

I’m 5’2 and 115 pounds. I eat extremely healthy and work out. But still I dont lose any weight. What can I do to get thinner?

    • Sara says:

Look at your daily calorie intake. If you’re really wanting to lose weight try consuming only 1,200 – 1,500 calories per day. Eat vegetables and fruits with lean meats and fish. Try to avoid sugars and fats. Vary up your exercise routine because your body can plateau. Also, 115 pounds sounds like a good number to me! I’d kill to weight 115 pounds :)

When you said no bread or rice, does that include no whole wheat bread and no brown rice too?

    • Admin says:

You certainly don’t have to cut those items out. Brown rice is a high fiber food which means that not only is it good for you but it can help you lose weight. Wheat bread on the other hand is questionable. There’s new research out now that may that whole wheat bread may not be good for you at all. I would certainly avoid eating whole wheat bread daily. If you’re trying to lose a lot of weight you’d be best off eating a diet that includes as many fresh, organic fruits and vegetables as possible. Fish and lean meats are also ideal.

Ok im 5’4 and i weigh 137 pounds i really want to be a model but im addicted to junk food. is there like a certian pill i can take to stop these cravings?

    • Admin says:

      Hey Gabrielle,

There are substances like Hoodia Gordonii, Sensa, and Caralluma that are supposed to suppress your appetite. However, I don’t know if these suppressants are actually effective. In order to lose weight safely I would try substituting healthy snacks for junk food. This may be hard at first because your body DOES become addicted to all that fat, sugar, and sodium. But if you continue to eat healthy and stick with it will become easier and eventually you’ll lose the taste for junk food altogether.

What kind of junkfood do you like? Try to find a healthier substitute and eat that instead. For example, if you like sweet sugary candies, try eating raisins or other sugar-free dried fruits instead. If you like chocolates, drink sugar-free, fat-free cocoa to satisfy your craving. If you like chips, try to eat salt-free pretzels instead. You do not need a pill to stop these cravings, just start eating different foods and your tongue will get used to them after a little while. It will get easier for you with time and practice. Then when you have junkfood on the rare occasion, it will not even taste as good as it did before, and you will be able to give it up again. It is just a bad habit.

  9. Anna Sweet says:

Hi, I’m 5’10″ and currently 133 lbs, but my metabolism is slow due to me hardly eating and not really exercising. I gain weight really quickly because of my mistake of not eating healthy, but now I only eat whole grain products and fresh fruits and veggies (I’m also a vegetarian), but I was wondering if there were some tips in how to get my metabolism back in order or also some good exercising routines/ workouts you’d recommend to help tone me? I’ve always wanted to be like those pretty girls on runways… Also wear clothes they do. I have a small frame for someone my height which makes me look a little bulky from what I weigh, but I think it’s because I’m not toned. Help please? :/

    • Admin says:

      Hey Anna,

You can boost your metabolism through diet and exercise. Here is an article we wrote about foods that increase metabolism: http://timeforthenewyou.com/diet/metabolism-boosting-foods

Not eating is NOT good. It’s going to be hard to lose weight if you don’t eat enough. I know that sounds counterintuitive but it’s true. You should be eating 3 to 5 healthy meals and paying attention to your calorie consumption. Here is a good calorie calculator that you can use to determine how many calories you need to lose weight: http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-required/

You also really need to exercise. Not only does it burn calories but it also boosts your metabolism which means it helps you burn MORE calories even when you’re done exercising. I recommend you start walking daily and advance to jogging at some point. Or, if you don’t like walking/jogging try finding a physical activity that you enjoy doing. I LOVE kayaking and do it whenever I can. You can play sports, go hiking, biking, swimming, etc. Just as long as you’re exercising at lest 4 or more times per week.

Also, here is a list of ways to increase your metabolism from WebMD: http://www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slideshow-boost-your-metabolism

Just remember it takes time and you have to have patience. But if you keep at it you’ll lose weight and feel great! :)

I read this because I am trying to lose weight, tho I know I probably don’t need to, I just prefer to be skinny. I like the way my clothes look and get more excited about dressing myself when I have less weight on my body. The other side of it is that I feel kind of dumb trying to look skinny like a model because it could easily be unhealthy and hurt me in the long run. I think whatever you do with exercise and portion control, “healthy eating”, the most important thing to do is be aware of your needs for vitamins, minerals, fat, and protein, and make sure you aren’t allowing deficiencies in your body that hurt your bones and organs, deficiencies that will affect your life expectancy and health in older age. Just something to think about. I’ve had an eating disorder in the past, and I worry that I might have done unrealized damage to my body, things that I hopefully can correct moving forward. Thanks…

      Hey Kate,

Thank YOU for your reply. Being skinny should NOT come before your health. If you’re healthy and active then you’ll naturally lose weight. It takes time when you’re healthy but it’s worth it because you’ll be able to lose all the weight you want and keep it off. It’s the right lifestyle change that will make all the difference.
