    Is the South Beach diet not as popular anymore? I remember when everyone was coming off of the Atkins diet because it was raising cholesterol levels and they were going to the more lean version which was South Beach. That is what I did and it has been a lot easier to make that life style change to South Beach then it was Atkins.

      I think it’s still popular, just not as popular as it used to be. Diets are so faddish that their popularity comes and goes. With diets you just have to find one that you can stick to and that fits your lifestyle. Personally, I recommend just eating a balanced diet with plenty of exercise. Doing that will, in the long run, be much more effective in helping you lose weight and keep it off for life.

    I have done the Atkins diet before and it did work really well, but I wanted to lose more weight than the phases allowed so I never came off the 1st phase and started adding things back into my diet. So I got really bored with it, after that I gained it all back and them some so I started the South Beach diet and worked just as well .

      That’s one of the pitfalls of doing diets like South Beach or Atkins. They aren’t the kind of diet that you can continue eating for long periods of time. I recommend that you adapt a healthy diet overall by eating more fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, etc. and eliminate (or greatly reduce) the amount of bad foods like processed foods.

    I have heard of all of these except the Lemonade Diet, that just seems weird. I am surprised that Weight Watchers and those kinds of diets weren’t included, do they not work as fast? Are there some diets out there that might be easier for men to follow? My husband has tried the Atkins diet and lost interest he won’t try the South Beach because there are to many vegetables. Any ideas for him?

      Hey Tracy,

      Diets like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig weren’t included on this list because, although they do work, they aren’t “quick fixes.” They are geared more towards long-term results. I would recommend Weight Watchers over most other diets because of the high success rate the diet has for people. Also, I don’t know what to tell you about your husband. There aren’t many diets that don’t require vegetables. They are, after all, along with fruit, the healthiest things you can eat. The South Beach, Atkins, The No Carb Diet, and The Zone Diet are diets that cut back on carbs. However, it’s going to be hard to lose weight and be healthy without eating vegetables. Perhaps you or he could try preparing them differently.
