The Dolly Parton Diet (Also Known As The Cabbage Soup Diet)
The Dolly Parton diet also known as the cabbage soup diet is a seven day diet based around a fresh cabbage soup, fruits, vegetables, beef, skinless chicken, fish, brown rice, and unsweetened fruit juice.
There are many different cabbage soup diets that you can find but the one listed here I think is the easiest to work with because it is a more balanced diet and it allows you to have additional foods (other than the cabbage soup).
The Recipe For Diet Cabbage Soup
The cabbage soup diet best recipe listed below has different variations, some of which we’ll get to it in the bottom of this article.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- One full head of cabbage (either chopped or shredded)
- Two large chopped organic onions
- 28 ounces of tomatoes space (canned and chopped)
- Two organic green peppers
- Four organic celery stalks
- 1 to 2 packages of your favorite dry onion soup mix
- Black pepper to taste
- You can choose any herbs that you would like for flavor
- Six fresh organic sliced carrots
- ½ pound fresh or frozen organic green beans sliced diagonally
- And optionally for taste you can add ½ cup balsamic vinegar
Here’s how you make it:
You want to put all your vegetables in a large pot and cover them with water. They want to bring the water to a boil once it reaches a boil poor in your dry soup mix. Boil for around 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes is up you want to cover the pot reduce the heat, and lets them or until the vegetables have become soft. Once the vegetables have become soft than you want to add to your herbs and black pepper.
How Does The Cabbage Soup Diet Work?
With the diet cabbage soup recipe above you can eat as much of it as you like and as often as you like. With this diet you don’t want to drink anything other than water and low-calorie drinks such as green tea, black tea, herbal tea, white tea, iced tea (unsweetened), and coffee. Do not drink any soft drinks or other sugary drinks as they contain too many calories.
Here is exactly how this diet works:
The first day: on the first day you can eat cabbage soup and any and all fruits with the exception of bananas.
The second day: on the second day you can eat your cabbage soup and any and all vegetables. May also have a baked potato and a little butter (but don’t go crazy with it).
The third day: on the third day you can eat cabbage soup and any and all fruits and vegetables with the exception of potatoes and bananas.
The fourth day: you can eat cabbage soup with bananas and skim milk. You can have as many bananas as you’d like and you can drink up to eight full glasses of skim milk this day.
The fifth day: on this day you can eat meat protein. You can have chicken (without the skim) beef, and or fish. The total amount of beef do you want to consume should be 20 ounces or less. Also on this day you can eat as many as six tomatoes. Need to make sure that you eat at least one bowl of the cabbage soup and drink at least eight glasses of water.
The sixth day: on this day you can also eat chicken, fish, beef, and any and all vegetables. Make sure have at least one bowl of soup and drink eight glasses of water.
The seventh day: on this day you can eat your soup as well as any and all vegetables, fruit juice (unsweetened), and brown rice.
Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe Variations
You can vary up the cabbage soup diet recipe in order to make a little bit easier to eat. The first batch of the day trying making it with bell peppers, red cabbage and red onions. Leave the vegetable bits a little larger and chunky to make the soup a bit hardier. Then when you make the second round of soup use a different type of London might yellow onions. You can also try using green cabbage and green bell peppers and then purée the soup to give it a different texture.
You can also add variations to the different days. For instance on the day that you’re allowed to have skim milk try adding plain, nonfat yogurt to the soup instead of a glass of milk. It gives the soup a creamier taste is actually quite good. Also on this day you can make a banana milkshake. You can add a bit of sweetener if the bananas don’t make it sweet enough for you.

Hey Joan,
That would depend entirely on you.
Factors that would determine weight loss:
1. Age
2. How much you weigh now
3. Level of physical activity (exercise/no exercise)
Although this diet does work I would advise you overhaul your entire diet and get daily exercise if you want to lose weight. That way you can lose weight and keep it off for life!
